I first saw this collection of push pins in high school when I first toured Wieden and Kennedy's world headquarters in the heart of Portland, Oregon. It has been stuck in my mind ever since because it has helped me embrace the idea that failure at some point, is an essential piece of the creative process. I still remember how no one in the tour group never actually understood what it meant, and why it was displayed so prominently in a built on the foundation of success. Then a hypothetical question was raised by our tour guide, "how do you achieve being successful?" All the guide said afterwards was: "If you don't fail, you're not trying hard enough."
